"Artists are flaky people" I was told by the corporate suits I used to work for. I always loved my artistic side. If I was told I'd never amount to anything, it only made me work harder. I have been crafting since I was a little girl in pigtails. I enjoy painting so much. I love thinking outside the box. I love making jewelry, sculpting and sketching. I have found joy in painting murals in kid's schools and baby nurseries. But I found my "niche" with my sassy, hand painted wine glasses called Eye Kandy. I am the epitome of the silly style my artwork embodies. It is a fun expression of me. My sense of humor goes into the phrases I add to my pieces and people get a good laugh! Laughter heals! In a world of millions, this is my one little piece of the pie and it feels good.
When I paint, I feel calm in the midst of a crazy life. It's magical to sit back and be proud of my creations. It's calming to create. Even better, people started to pay for my glassware or jewelry! I now keep busy and take orders from gift shops. I realized I had something people enjoyed that was out-of-the-ordinary. It feels good to make your own money using your own talents. I was never very good at sitting behind a desk for 40 hours a week. I have the need and drive to create. I have busy hands! While we are speaking of "therapeutic" crafts, I love healing stones and their different energies. I decided to make jewelry using all sort of different healing stones. I like to give back to the American Cancer Society and different charities such as the Battered Women's Shelters. As a woman, it feels good to be your own boss and create beautiful things with your hands, plus help others.
